These are true television gems as you watch Spanky, and the gang get into a heap of mischief and fun. You may know this series of short comedy films as the predecessor to 'The Little Rascals'. Created by producer Hal Roach, 'Our Gang' is credited at being the first cinematic endeavor to portray kids naturally. 'Our Gang' was very successful during the 1920s and early 1930s.

 

Our Gang: Sea. 1, Ep. 1   Title: Alfalfa's Aunt

Alfalfa reads the manuscript of a mystery story written by his Aunt and mistakes it for a plot to murder him. He rounds up the Gang and asks them for protection. Eventually they learn that Alfalfa is mistaken, but meantime they do manage to help scare away an unwanted relative.

As in the plot of "The Prince And The Pauper," Alfalfa discovers that a rich boy has moved into town who is a dead ringer for him. Alfalfa envies the boy and they decide to switch clothes. However, Alfalfa finds the grass always seems greener on the other side of the street than it actually is.

The Gang goes in for histrionics. They present a play in which Alfalfa plays Aladdin and attempts to spirit Darla away on his magic carpet. However, the magic carpet device fails, and they are both uncomfortably bounced back to reality.

Not only can the Gang solve its own problems, but it can also be counted upon to supply some practical advice to Mickey's parents. When Mickey tells the gang about his parents' arguments, they decide to dramatize them on a local kiddies' radio program.
